Overview

ELEVEN is an award-winning sports media business, established in 2015, which in 2023 became part of the DAZN Group family.

We house a total of 1,655 distribution channels with 665 million aggregated social media followers, generating more than 4 billion video views each month.

ELEVEN serves fans with over 86,000 hours of live sport each year, in addition to a slate of original programming. Our rights portfolio includes the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Serie A, F1, NBA, NFL, Ligue 1 and domestic rights to the Pro League in Belgium.

Our global streaming platform www.elevensports.com delivers thousands of hours of live sport to fans in more than 210 countries and territories around the world.

Content Discovery & Viewing Experience

Our motto: By the Fans. For the Fans. Designing a seamless experience for our users across all platforms was crucial for fostering retention and facilitating the widespread adoption of our platform.

Continuous refinement was paramount to ensure the discoverability of live and on-demand events, whether pertaining to specific leagues, clubs, teams, or exploring new content. The key to content discovery lay in a well-balanced combination of editorial and algorithmic recommendations, robust search features, match calendars, league and club hubs, and personalized features.

Integration into the technology team played a pivotal role in delivering a live video experience that stands on par with the best in the industry. It is undeniable that, in the realm of streaming technology, we are navigating a landscape with real and impactful technical limitations that designers must work within.

To enrich the viewing experience, we introduced features such as team lineups, match information, real-time stats (both in-player and on-platform), and a live chat feature. These enhancements were implemented strategically to elevate the overall quality of the user's interaction with our platform.

We designed features with multiple entry points on the platforms, empowering users to fine-tune their preferences in both live and editorial content. Complemented by algorithmic recommendations, these features serve a dual purpose—keeping users well-informed about new content and ensuring the quickest path from signing in to regular live streaming engagement.

Onboarding

Platform security, user privacy, and GDPR compliance are aspects frequently overlooked during ideation. However, they inherently constitute the first touchpoints for users on a digital platform. I have designed a low-friction onboarding process that seamlessly operates across all our platforms, incorporating a consent service to ensure both users and the business consistently adhere to regulatory standards.

03. Experience

Real-world limitations.

Streaming live video in multiple languages across over 210 countries and territories worldwide inevitably introduces complexity. Whether due to technological constraints or content rights restrictions, various challenges such as geo-blocking, Digital Rights Management (DRM), VPN blocking, and concurrency limits can significantly impact the user experience. Thoughtful design is essential to inform users of these limitations, which they have no control over, yet can be a source of frustration for them.

Piracy presents a significant challenge in the realm of video content, particularly in the context of live sports streaming. One effective strategy to address this issue is to design solutions that not only maximize value for the business but also make the decision for users to engage in piracy less appealing when compared to the cost of legitimate content. This ongoing effort is driven by the implementation of multiple monetization options, including single- and multi-term subscriptions, pay-per-view, and bundles, customized to specific regions and currencies.

Content Delivery

ELEVEN offers a comprehensive 360-degree solution for brands and rights holders, incorporating a distinctive set of content creation, publishing, and technology capabilities. This empowers our partners to effectively engage with fans at every stage of their journey.

Our platform, "Eleven Studio," stands as a cloud-based video distribution solution. It facilitates rights holders in self-publishing live streams and sports data on elevensports.com and partner platforms.

A significant challenge in distribution involves simplifying the intricacies of live sports streaming, often managed by professional production companies. Our technological solution addresses this by empowering non-technical users at federations, leagues, and clubs to independently oversee the entire process.
